Everything you need to know about TABS retail, trade and warehouse software: setup, AI, integrations, security, support and pricing.

General

What is TABS?

TABS is an integrated retail, trade counter and warehouse management platform built for UK businesses. It combines EPOS, stock control, purchasing, quotes and orders, reporting, e-commerce and logistics into one connected system with embedded AI.

Who is TABS designed for?

TABS is built for retailers, trade counter operators and warehouse businesses across the UK. We have particular expertise in tool, hardware and workwear retailers, spares and garden machinery, machinery dealers and industrial supply, with direct integrations for suppliers like Toolbank, Draper, Trend, Sealey and Castle Clothing / TuffStuff.

How long has ETABS been operating?

E-Trading and Business Services Ltd was established in 2010. We have over 15 years of experience building software based on direct retailer feedback, and we are still owner-run from Manchester.

AI features

What is AI Order Upload?

AI Order Upload lets your staff upload a customer order in any format including PDFs, photographs, spreadsheets, Word documents and plain text. AI reads the document, extracts product references and quantities, and matches them against your stock database and the customer's own part numbers. Results are colour-coded for review before being added to the basket.

What is AI Invoice Reconciliation?

AI Invoice Reconciliation reads your supplier invoices and checks them against the purchase order, highlighting anything that does not match so your team can resolve it quickly. Several invoices in one PDF are split automatically, and the invoice is attached to the bill in your accounts package.

What file formats does AI Order Upload support?

AI Order Upload handles PDFs, images (JPG and PNG, including photographs of handwritten lists), spreadsheets (CSV, XLS and XLSX), Word documents and plain text.

What do the colour-coded results in AI Order Upload mean?

Green means a confident match to a single stock item. Amber means multiple possible matches were found for staff to choose from. Red means no match was found and the item needs manual attention. Nothing is added to the basket until staff review and confirm.

What does the AI cost, and can I see what I use?

AI usage is metered and shown inside TABS, so you always see exactly what you use. Pricing for the AI features is agreed as part of your quote. See the AI in TABS page for all six features.

Setup and hardware

What hardware do I need?

TABS runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android or iOS. We supply and configure tills, scanners, printers, card terminals and handheld computers, but not PCs or general IT support. See hardware and peripherals.

Do I need my own server?

No. TABS is hosted in a UK data centre on ETABS-owned hardware and we handle all the infrastructure. This eliminates on-site server hardware, maintenance costs and version upgrade fees.

How long does setup take?

It depends on the size of your business and the modules you need, so we agree a plan with you at the start. Onboarding covers migrating your data, configuration, training and go-live. See how we work.

Integrations

Which accounting packages does TABS integrate with?

Xero and Sage 50. Invoices, payments, credit notes and purchase bills flow automatically between systems, reducing manual data entry and accountant fees.

Which e-commerce platforms are supported?

TABS connects with Shopify, Amazon, eBay and Google Merchant Center. Stock levels sync automatically across all channels to help prevent overselling. We also build bespoke transactional websites.

Which couriers does TABS integrate with?

Royal Mail Click & Drop, Royal Mail ProShipping, Parcelforce, DPD, DPD Local, DHL Parcel UK, DHL International, UPS, FedEx, Evri, APC Overnight, Parcelhub/Whistl, Yodel and Palletways, and we integrate with other couriers on demand. Speak to us if the courier you use is not on the list. See the full integrations list.

Which product suppliers does TABS integrate with?

Toolbank, Draper Tools, Trend Machinery, Sealey and Castle Clothing / TuffStuff, with Festool purchase ordering via EDI. You get full catalogues with images, descriptions, pricing and stock availability, and direct ordering with Toolbank, Draper, Trend and Festool.

What if you do not integrate with something I use?

Tell us. We build integrations to order, and most of the connectors above started as a customer request.

Security and your data

How do users log in, and can I control what they see?

Login uses two-factor authentication, and per-user permissions control what each person can see and do.

Who owns my data, and can I export it?

You do. Most reports export to CSV or Excel on demand, and we will provide a full data export if you ever need one.

Where is my data hosted?

In a UK data centre managed by ETABS, with automated backups. See security and hosting.

Support and updates

Where is your support team based?

Our entire support team is based in Manchester, UK. You speak directly to our experts who know the system inside out. No outsourced call centres.

How do software updates work?

TABS is an evergreen platform. Updates and new features are rolled out automatically with an in-app bulletin for every release. You are always on the latest version with no expensive upgrade fees.

How often is TABS updated?

Continuously. Improvements ship to every customer system frequently, each announced with an in-app bulletin, and there is never a version upgrade to schedule.

Pricing

How is TABS priced?

We tailor pricing to your specific business needs and the modules you require. Contact us for a personalised quote. We are happy to discuss options that work for your budget.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. There are no server hardware costs, no version upgrade fees and no surprise charges. Your subscription covers the platform, hosting, ongoing updates and UK-based support.

Still have questions?

Our Manchester-based team is always happy to help. Ask us anything about the platform, the integrations or how a switch would work.
